Monochromatic

A monochromatic colour scheme is the easiest colour scheme to get right. You don’t have to handle the confusion of too many colour options. It consists of a single colour, but different light and dark variants of that colour. Neutral colours (beige, taupe, grey, white, cream, brown) usually work well in a monochromatic colour scheme.

This type of colour scheme can make small spaces appear larger. Using variants of a single colour can look a bit boring, so it is important to introduce different textures in the space through rugs, cushions and throws. Print can also be introduced to give the space some more interest. Black or white is often used as accent colours to break up the use of the main colour and liven up the space.
