Colour plays an important role in setting the tone when you enter a room. Did you know that it can actively or passively impact your mood without you even realising it? For this reason, it is important to think carefully about your colour selection. Before deciding on anything – ask yourself how you want a space to make you feel upon entering it. Below, some colours have been paired with the feelings that they symbolize.

I want to feel...

Empowered

Red

Red is a warm colour that is often said to make you feel empowered and invigorated. It is quite a bold colour that can become overpowering if used in excess. Red is therefore best used as an accent colour.

Creative

Orange

Orange is a colour that inspires creativity. It is also a very welcoming colour. It could best be used in a kitchen or dining area to make your guests feel welcomed.

Positivity

Yellow

Yellow, reminiscent of the sun, is a colour that symbolises warmth and happiness. It is a welcoming and energising colour often well used in kitchens, dining rooms and bathrooms.

Refreshed

Green

Green is said to be a comforting colour, symbolic of growth and balance. It is said to help you unwind.

Calm

Blue

Blue is known to be the colour of calmness. It has been proven to reduce stress levels and promotes relaxation and tranquillity. Reminiscent of the ocean and the sky, blue is often best suited in bedrooms and in bathrooms.

Luxury

Purple

Purple is a colour that oozes luxury and nobility. Deeper shades create a sense of cosiness in bedrooms, while lighter, pastel purples work well in dressing rooms. If you want to create an impressive first impression of your home, it is the perfect colour for your hallway.

Security

Grey

Grey is neutral colour that is said to evoke feelings of security and calmness. It can also be viewed as quite a serios colour – which is why it is often used in office spaces. When used well, it can create a very clean and contemporary aesthetic.

Cleansed

White

White symbolises cleanliness and purity. It is often used in bathrooms. It is a wonderful backdrop colour as it enables you to colourfully decorate the rest of the space without the fear of clashing. White also makes a space appear larger since it reflects light.

Warmth

Brown

Reminiscent of nature, brown is a rich colour that has a cosy and warming quality. Creating a brown colour scheme can be challenging but is possible if you carefully blend together different shades and tones of the colour in a space. This is often done in Scandinavian décor. It pairs well with cream, tan, orange and rusty red. You may like to introduce the colour through furnishings to tone done a vibrant colour scheme.
